Sept 4 – Plant Identification

Learn the basics of plant identification.
Proper attire required (long pants, hiking boots/old sneakers, bug spray, sun screen, hats.) water bottles, nature journal.

Oct 2 – Soil Science
Leader: Fabio
Types and properties of soil. Soil testing techniques. Make paint and art using diy paint made from soil.
Oct 16 – Why do leaves fall?
Leader: Fabio
The fall season starts on September 22nd, but do you really know why plant leaves fall? How do plants make that happen? The answer will surprise you!

Nov 13 – Aggregated Value
Leader: Fabio
Using Apples as a reference, we will teach the kids about Aggregated Value. We will discuss how to add value to the things we do and grow on small farms to increase revenue and make it more financially sustainable.
Nov 20 – Hiking safety
Leader: Fabio
Come ready for hiking! This day we will do a lot of soft hiking in the Royal Oaks Farm. We will teach the kids the do’s and dont’s so that they can be safe as they walk and play in the woods, even when we are not looking.
Dec 4 – Community Service – Nursing Home Visit

From 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Location: LW Memory Care
Children will have an opportunity to distribute home made cards to the residents and present on their favorite topic of the year.
